The short version

The DumpsterPicker widget does not ask your website visitors who they are. There is no name field, no email field and no phone field anywhere in it. We do not want that data and we do not store it.

What the widget records

When someone uses the widget we record anonymous counts so the rental company can see whether it is working: that the guide was viewed, started or completed, which step was finished, which container size was recommended, whether a special-handling or out-of-area message appeared, and whether the button through to the company’s own quote page was clicked.

Each of those rows carries a random session identifier generated in the visitor’s browser tab and held in sessionStorage. It is not a cookie, it is not shared between sites, it is not linked to any person, and it disappears when the tab is closed. We do not store full IP addresses. The public analytics endpoint is rate limited using a salted, in-memory hash of the request address, which is never written to the database.

What the widget never records

  • Names, email addresses or phone numbers of your visitors.
  • Street addresses. The optional ZIP step checks five digits against a list and moves on.
  • Full IP addresses, device fingerprints or cross-site tracking identifiers.
  • Anything at all about payments made to the rental company.

Rental company accounts

For customers who subscribe we store an email address for sign-in, the business details and configuration entered in the dashboard, and the subscription state reported by Stripe. Payment card details are handled by Stripe and never reach our servers. Transactional email is sent through Resend. We do not run marketing campaigns to widget visitors, and there are no advertising or analytics trackers on the widget.

Your choices

Subscribers can export or delete their configuration at any time by contacting support; deleting an account removes the company record, its configuration and its event counts. Because widget events contain no personal data, they cannot be traced back to an individual visitor on request.
